Join us for our Fundamentals of Floristry course - a thoughtfully designed introduction to floral design and the first step toward a career in floristry.

Held over 8 inspiring weeks, this course is built for beginners who want to learn the art of working with fresh flowers in a modern and intentional way. Each week, you’ll build your confidence while learning essential floristry skills - from flower care and preparation, to colour theory, bouquet-making, floral design principles, and sustainable techniques.

You’ll be guided by Elise Ross, Head Florist of Elyssium Blooms and founder of The Bloom School. With over two decades of experience and a genuine love for teaching, Elise brings her industry knowledge and creative insight into every session, helping students to feel supported, capable and creatively fulfilled.

Our classes are kept small and personal to ensure each student receives plenty of 1:1 guidance, hands-on learning, and time to connect with others who share a passion for flowers.

This course runs over 8 weeks, 1 day per week on a Wednesday 9:30am - 3:00pm starting 21st January 2026.

WHO THIS COURSE IS AIMED AT:

This course is ideal for aspiring florists and floral enthusiasts looking to gain foundational knowledge and practical skills. Whether you’re dreaming of a career in floristry or simply want to explore a new creative outlet, no prior experience is required - just a love of flowers and a willingness to learn.

VENUE LOCATION:

This course will be held at Farm Springs - A beautiful venue with a white American style Barn on a private property in Mount Nathan (just 10-15 minutes from Nerang) in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

As our venue is located on a private property, the exact address will be provided to you a week prior to the course start date.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • How to care for and condition a range of flowers to increase vase life, flower types and names

  • Explore the basics of floristry design, including color, texture, and elements of design, while developing your unique floral style

  • Learn the skills to create bouquets using the spiral technique, exploring both modern and more traditional styles

  • Explore the techniques around both foam and foam free mechanics for arrangements

  • Learn different aspects of retail floristry

  • Flower pricing for arrangements and bouquets

  • Basic wiring techniques to create flower crowns

  • How to forage and source botanicals

  • Learn different paths of where to take your floristry career within the industry

  • Learn to work with wholesalers/ordering

  • And so much more

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

  • ALL flowers are included in the course and yours to take home - We source the best high quality product for our students to use

  • Everything you need for each lesson including apron, snips, toolkit, floral sundries

  • Class excursion - Wednesday 11th February 2026 - A visit to a local flower farm, enjoy a guided tour to learn how flowers are grown, harvested and cared for, then handpick your own blooms to design with back in class

  • Class excursion Wednesday 4th March 2026 - Brisbane Flower Markets (Please note - this session is an early start 7:00am)

  • Upon completing the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from The Bloom School, and an afternoon of nibbles and a drink to celebrate your achievements

  • Opportunity to join The Bloom School Community in our private Facebook group

  • All students receive a 15% discount on all courses and workshops once they have attended a course with us

  • An 8 week in depth program covering the fundamentals of floristry, lots of fun and creativity

WHAT TO BRING:

  • You must wear closed in shoes

  • Comfortable casual clothing

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT LUNCH IS NOT INCLUDED

You’re welcome to bring your own lunch, we have access to a small fridge onsite. There is also a local Cafe 5 minutes down the road, and you are welcome to grab lunch there as well.

PRICING AND COURSE DETAILS:

Course Cost - $3,095.00

When paying in FULL you will receive a discounted registration at $2,895.00, please choose this option when going to checkout.

Duration - Each lesson will run from 9:30am to 3:00pm on a Wednesday starting 21st January 2026.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

  • FULL Payment Upfront $2,895.00 (discounted rate if paying in FULL).

  • Payment Plan A - $1,000.00 Upfront payment, then 4 payments of $525.00 due on 21st January 2026, 4th February 2026, 18th February 2026 and 4th March 2026. These will be invoiced to you separately.

  • AFTERPAY Payment Plan - $2,000.00 Upfront, then a separate invoice of $1,100.00 due by 21st January 2026. This will be invoiced separately.

  • Failure to pay an installment may result in cancellation of your course.

  • All course payments must be received prior to the course end date.

  • If you are purchasing the course after any of the above payment plan dates, your first instalment will include all payments up until current. This is to ensure the payment plan is completed on time.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled class, a make-up fee of $250.00 will apply to reschedule. Please note that make-up class dates may not be available until the next course session. As a result, there is a possibility that you may not complete the course on time, which could delay the awarding of your certificate of completion until all classes are finished.

All students must be over 18 years of age and have their own means of transport.
