Over 8 engaging classes, you'll build your confidence while exploring fresh and modern floristry techniques. Learn the basics of floristry, from design and color palettes to correct flower conditioning and preparation. Get valuable insights into the life of a professional florist and prepare yourself for a rewarding career.
Under the expert guidance of Elise Ross, the Owner and Head Florist at Elyssium Blooms—a highly regarded and established florist on the Gold Coast—you'll benefit from personalised, hands-on training. With 21 years of industry experience, Elise brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for floristry, ensuring you receive top-notch instruction and support throughout your learning journey.
All of our courses are small and intimate, giving you the confidence and support needed to learn and grow as a florist and get plenty of 1:1 time with Elise during each lesson.
We want to create a space for you to feel confident in your skills and creativity, whilst also being surrounded by new like minded friends.
This course runs over 8 weeks, 1 day per week on a Wednesday 9:30am - 3:00pm starting 7th May 2025.
Who is this course aimed at:
Our Fundamentals of Floristry course has been tailored to aspiring florists wanting to gain practical experience with flowers. If you’re excited about working with flowers but unsure where to start, this course is for you! Ideal for flower enthusiasts or those considering a career in floristry, no prior experience is required.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
How to care for and condition a range of flowers to increase vase life, flower types and names
Explore the basics of floristry design, including color, texture, and elements of design, while developing your unique floral style
Learn the skills to create bouquets using the spiral technique, exploring both modern and more traditional styles
Explore the techniques around both foam and foam free mechanics for arrangements
Learn different aspects of retail floristry
Flower pricing for arrangements and bouquets
Basic wiring techniques to create flower crowns
We will guide you to secure hands on learning for a day in a retail florist, to access the behind the scenes of how it all works
How to forage and source botanicals
Learn different paths of where to take your floristry career within the industry
Learn to work with wholesalers/ordering
And so much more
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
ALL flowers are included in the course and yours to take home
Everything you need for each lesson including apron, snips, toolkit, floral sundries and notebook
Class excursion Wednesday 11th June 2025 - Brisbane Flower Markets (Please note - this session is an early start)
Class excursion - Flower Farm, where you will see first hand how flowers are grown, harvested and cared for before they are purchased by florists. You will also have the opportunity to pick your own flowers.
Upon completing the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from The Bloom School, and an afternoon of nibbles and a drink to celebrate your achievements

You will need to bring your own lunch, as there will be a short break in the middle of the day. There is a small fridge on the premises for food, otherwise you are welcome to pack your lunch in a cooler bag.

Duration - Each lesson will run from 9:30am to 3:00pm every Wednesday starting 7th May 2025.
Our courses are run from Evergreen at The Foliage Farm, a private venue in Mount Nathan located in the Gold Coast Hinterland. You will receive the address one week prior to your course start date. We are unable to advertise the address publicly.

FULL Payment Upfront $2,550.00 (discounted rate if paying in FULL).
Payment Plan A - $1,000.00 Upfront payment, then 4 payments of $437.50 due on April 16th 2025, April 30th 2025, May 14th 2025 and May 28th 2025. These will be invoiced to you separately.
Payment Plan B - $500.00 Upfront payment, then 6 payments od $375.00 due on April 16th 2025, April 23rd 2025, April 30th 2025, May 7th 2025, May 14th 2025 and May 21st 2025.
Failure to pay an installment may result in cancellation of your course.
